India secured a thrilling 4-run win against Ireland in the second and final T20I of the series by 2-0. The visitors posted a mammoth 225/7 in 20 overs and Ireland almost chased down the target, but eventually paceman Umran Malik hit an impressive final over to fall four runs behind after defending 8 runs from the last three balls to secure victory. . Earlier in the game, Deepak Hooda smashed a brilliant century (104 off 57 balls) while comeback man Sanju Samson made 77 off just 42 deliveries.

Samson opened the innings along with Ishan Kishan (3) and showed his class hitting nine fours and 4 sixes in Dublin’s 77-run drive. The fielder finally departed in the 17th over of the game, which saw India reach a robust 189 off 22 deliveries. After the game, Samson reflected on the knock and during a chat on Sony SI, former India all-rounder Ajay Jadeja asked Samson if he was disappointed not to reach a hundred.

“It was a good game. The partnership we put together where there was some movement from the wicket and the bowlers were bowling in the right areas. I think Huda made it very easy for me. He started the innings from the pitch. We communicated very well, when he bowled like that, I punched him. I was happy to throw.

“He did the same thing when I started visiting. I am very happy for Hooda and would like to reach that kind of aunty (number) one day, soon. I am also very satisfied with the way I batted,” Samson answered Jadeja’s question.

However, the former India cricketer said he felt Samson should have scored a century and later lamented that he was “a little too harsh” on the batter.

“I’m glad to hear it, but I’m sad because I thought you should get it too. I hope you start to feel it too, because we’re all big fans of yours here, especially Swanny (Graeme Swann) and me. We’d love to see you score higher when you get there. Sorry, I am a bit too harsh because I am a big fan of batting,” said Jadeja Samson.
