Scotland Cricket Team – Scotland were unbeaten in the European qualifiers for the ICC U19 FIFA World Cup earlier this year, joining Bengal, Pakistan and Zimbabwe in Group C at the World Cup which starts next month.
The team’s coach, Gordon Drummond, said: “The team is excited about the opportunity to participate in the upcoming U19 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. It is a tough group, but it also offers a great opportunity to picking up a few full member scalps that you know the guys are focused on getting.

The Scotland side is led by Kyle Coetzer and includes veterans Richie Berrington, Calum McLeod, Safian Sharif, Matthew Cross and Alli Evans.
Former England opener Jonathan Trott has been roped in as the team’s batting consultant. Trott’s experience in previous World Cups and the Ashes series will help the side prepare for stressful situations and adapt to the demands of the ICC tournament.
Josh Davey, Michael Leask, George Munsey and Mark Watt, who played in the last ICC T20 World Cup in 2016, also find places. Dylan Budge, Chris Greaves, Hamza Tahir, Craig Wallace and Brad Wheal will make their debuts.
From the announced 17-man provisional squad, Chris Sole and Ollie Khair were not included in the final squad. Although Sole will remain a substitute, Hair will return to England after picking up a shoulder injury in Friday’s warm-up against Papua New Guinea. Michael Jones wants to join the team and get a haircut.
Scotland Should Be At Cricket World Cup
Scotland head coach Shane Burger reflected on the squad selection: “It was a very difficult decision because we have depth in Scotland cricket at the moment.” “There is a lot of skill, talent, diversity and adaptability within the squad, many of whom have put their hands up at any time recently, and we look forward to seeing the world over the last 18 months, even in the time of Covid. “Think about what a cup and a combination would be like.”
“I’m really excited about the spin bowl attack we’ve been able to build together. We’ve got an arm-spinner in Chris Greaves who’s done well for Scotland in the last two games and then of course we’ve got two left-arm arm spinners in Hamza Tahir and Mark Watt who performed consistently as did Michael Leask. With bat and ball in his current form.
“From a cutting point of view we have the ever-present Safian Sharif, who is one of the best death squads, along with Josh Davey and Brad Chake, who have had good county seasons. Then you have Alli Evans with his height and he has had a fantastic season, probably our best player in recent times.
“From a batting point of view we have power in George Munsey and Kyle Coetzer. Losing a large amount of hair can be really frustrating. It’s a huge loss for us but we also know guys like Matthew Cross, Calum McLeod and Dylan Budge can come and playing well in the top and middle order.
