Rahul has been in great form ever since his home team Royal Challengers moved from Bangalore to Punjab in 2018. In the same year, he scored the fastest IPL fifty in 14 balls against Delhi Capitals.
That was just the beginning, as he finished the 2018 season as the third best run-getter among 6-handers with 54.91-659 runs and 158.41 strikeout rate. The following year, he scored 593 runs (at an average of 53.90), making him the second highest player in the 2019 IPL.

In the near future, KL Rahul is heavily linked with the Lucknow-based franchise owned by the RPSG group and the latest reports suggest that the 29-year-old is all set to lead the new franchise in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). season.
A league official close to the development informed news agency PTI that KL Rahul is on the verge of being named the captain of the unnamed team based in Lucknow. The franchise owned by the RP-Sanjiv Goenka group will add two more players in the draft in addition to KL Rahul.
According to reports, these two players are likely to be Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and young Indian all-rounder Ravi Bishnoi. While he used to play for Punjab Kings (PBKS), KL Rahul was not keen on staying and wanted a fresh start. While Stoinis was with Delhi Capitals (DC) last year, he will be joined in Lucknow by Bishnoi, who also plies his trade with Punjab Kings.
For those who don’t know, RPSG Group has earmarked Rs 7,090 crore to buy the Lucknow franchise following the addition of two new franchises to the existing eight teams in the IPL roster.

The Ahmedabad-based franchise, which is owned by the CVC Capital group, has also completed its draft selection with Hardik Pandya to head the venture. The two new teams have almost finalized their three drafts and will participate in the IPL 2022 mega auction scheduled for February to complete the purchase of their remaining squads.
KL Rahul is currently captaining Team India in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Team India is playing a three-match ODI series against South Africa, the first match of which will be played on Wednesday.

KL Rahul is among the players recruited by the Lucknow series ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The 29-year-old Rahul will captain the team next season as well. Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and Indian teenager Ravi Bishnoi are the other two picked by the Lucknow team.
Rahul got a total of INR 17 crores while Stonis and Bishnoi got 9.2 crores and 4 crores respectively.

The new IPL team had the opportunity to pick three players (two Indian and one foreign) from the existing player pool before the mega auction.

Rahul led the Punjab Kings for the past two seasons but severed his ties with the team after the recent IPL push. Bishnoi was also with Punjab while Stoinis represented Delhi Capitals. He is currently the stand-in captain of the Indian ODI team in South Africa in the absence of the injured Rohit Sharma.
After starting his IPL career with Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rahul shifted his base to Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014. He was traded back to Bangalore in 2016 before joining the Punjab Kings in the 2018 auction for a total of INR 11.
Rahul was Punjab’s top run-scorer last season and left after scoring 2,548 runs in four seasons for the franchise.
Bishnoi was also with Punjab while Stoinis represented Delhi Capitals. The 21-year-old Bishnoi became one of the most sought-after players at the auction after his performances at the 2020 U19 World Cup. Punjab snapped up for ₹2 billion. The young spinner scored 12 goals in 14 games in his first season, and in 2021 he scored 12 balls in nine games.

Lucknow will be Stoinis’ fourth IPL team. He started with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2015 and returned to the team in 2020. In the meantime, he also traded to Punjab and Royal Challengers. He has amassed over 600 runs in 56 IPL games, including four half-centuries. The Australian player has taken 30 feathers in the tournament so far.
Former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower was earlier appointed as the team’s head coach. The Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise has now signed Gautam Gambhir as a mentor. The Goenka-led RP-SG group shelled out INR 7,090 crore to own the Lucknow franchise.

IPL 2022: KL Rahul was heavily fined for slowing down the pace between LSG and MI in IPL 2022 in Lucknow.
Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 103 against five-time champions Mumbai Indians on Sunday to seal a comfortable 36-run win for the IPL newcomers at the Wankhede Stadium. The 30-year-old opener slapped a total of 12 fours and four sixes in his remaining 62 balls, making it his fourth IPL match overall. Rahul flashed an Indian player Rohit Sharma’s T20 century record (6), while the LSG captain was fined ₹24 crore for maintaining excessive speed. It was Rahul’s second best knock of the season. For the first offence, he was fined HUF 12 million.

“KL Rahul has been fined ₹ 24 lakh and the other members of the playing eleven have been fined ₹ 6 lakh or 25 per cent of the match fee, whichever is lower,” the IPL said in a statement.
He also added, “This was the team’s second offense of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct for minimum overrated offences.”
Rahul looked dominant throughout as he stayed at the crease to reach the three-figure mark in the final overs. Despite not supporting his fellow batsmen, the Karnataka player continues his love affair with the five-time IPL winners. Both his wickets this season have gone against the Mumbai Indians.
