Fastest Fifty In Cricket – Krunal Pandya set a new record for fastest half century on debut in 50 over game but where compared to fastest 50 in ODI.

All-rounder Krunal Pandya from India set a new record for scoring the fastest half century in One Day Internationals (ODIs) on his debut on Tuesday. In doing so, he broke the record previously held by New Zealand’s John Morris, who scored his half-century on 35 balls against England in 1990.

Krunal scored his half century on just 26 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes and has now become the 15th Indian batsman to score fifty-plus runs on his ODI debut.

Although Krunal Pandya broke the previous record of fifty on his debut with a solid nine balls, it is still far from the fastest streak over 50 in ODI cricket.

AB de Villiers holds the record for fastest over 50 in ODI cricket by taking just 16 balls to reach the landmark. It happened in South Africa’s second match against the West Indies in Johannesburg in 2015.

The then South African captain not only scored the fastest 50 in ODI cricket but also scored the fastest 100 in ODI. South Africa scored an incredible 439/2 with as many as three players including de Villiers scoring for centuries.

The 1996 Singers Cup final was a low scoring match, with Pakistan amassing only 215 runs on first bat. However, Sri Lanka started well and their opening star, Sanath Jayasuriya was in the middle.

The South Pole then scored the fastest half century in an ODI, hitting the mark on just 17 balls. While he has scored a half century, his opening partner Romesh Kaluwitharana has yet to open his account. Jayasuriya scored 76 off just 28 balls as Sri Lanka eventually went out for 172.

A total of three players have scored fifty in ODIs over 17 balls. As well as Jayasuriya, Kusal Perera did that against Pakistan in 2015, and the same year, New Zealand’s Martin Guptill equaled his tally against Sri Lanka.

England opener Liam Livingstone scored a 17-ball half century against the Netherlands on 17 June, which was the second best half century in ODI cricket. Of the 54 runs he scored on 17 balls, 50 came in bounds only (five 4s and five 6s).

Coming on to play England at 4/407, Livingstone needed little time to recover. In just his first over, the 28-year-old scored 32 runs from over Philippe Boissevain, hitting four sixes and three fours.

Livingstone continued to wreak havoc for the rest of the innings as he finished with an unbeaten 66 from 22 balls.

Ahead of AB de Villiers and Sanath Jayasuriya, Australia’s Simon O’Donnell held the record for fastest fifty in ODIs when he hit 74 for just 29 balls against Sri Lanka in his team’s 114 runs win in the second semifinal. 1990 Australia-Asia Cup.

The quiet man in the middle scored a half century in 18 deliveries as Australia posted 332/3 while riding behind the resounding ton of Dean Jones.

Since O’Donnell’s 18 ball fifty, four more players have accomplished the feat. This includes Shahid Afridi, who has done it three times (vs Sri Lanka 1996, v Netherlands 2002 and v Bangladesh 2014), Glenn Maxwell (vs India 2013), Brendon McCullum (vs England 2015) and Aaron Finch (vs Sri Lanka in 2016) .

As well as Mark Boucher, Justin Kemp, Brendon McCullum (twice), Chris Gayle, Ross Taylor, David Hussey and Shahid Afridi also scored half centuries on 19 balls. So did the 20 ball half centuries belonging to the group of Brendon McCullum, Daren Sammy, Richie Berrington, Corey Anderson and Angelo Mathews.

Krunal Pandya’s half century was also not the fastest for India. Ajit Agarkar holds the record for fastest fifty in ODIs for India needing just 21 balls to reach the milestone. Several others were second best with only 22 balls.

While Krunal Pandya’s accomplishments are worth celebrating, he is now the 15th Indian cricketer to score 50-plus on his ODI debut. KL Rahul and Faiz Fazal last did it in 2016.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Smashes Fastest Fifty In Ipl History

2 Ishan Kishan became the second man to score fifty on his debut in ODI and T20I cricket. He scored 56 on his T20I debut against England in March and now he’s got even better with 59 on his ODI debut against Sri Lanka. South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen was the first player in this double, scoring 56 on his T20I debut against Zimbabwe and 93 on his ODI debut against Pakistan. 2 Kishan made the second-fastest ODI fifty on debut, hitting the target on 33 balls. Krunal Pandya holds the record for best fifty on an ODI debut with his 26-ball attempt against England earlier this year. Kishan also became the second Indian player and 16th to make his ODI debut on his birthday.

Kishan’s 59 is the highest scored by an Indian goalkeeper on his ODI debut, surpassing Saba Karim’s 55 against South Africa in 1997. This is also the eighth highest score by a goalkeeper on debut in this format. 1 Kishan is also the first player since 2001, to bat the first ball he faced for six times on his ODI debut. Four others this season reached their first ODI six, but they did not make their debut – Johann Louw (South Africa, 2008), Jawad Dawood (Canada, 2010), Craig Wallace (Scotland, 2016) and Richard Ngarava (Zimbabwe, 2017). 86* Shikhar Dhawan’s score in the pursuit, the second highest by an Indian in his first ODI as captain. The highest was 110 by Sachin Tendulkar in 1996, also against Sri Lanka in Colombo. He was second fastest by an Indian, after Virat Kohli (136 strokes). Amla and Kane Williamson, with 123 and 139 strokes respectively, were the others to reach 6000 runs quicker than Dhawan.

17 innings for Dhawan to complete 1000 ODI against Sri Lanka. He is the fastest player to reach 1000 ODI runs against Sri Lanka, in innings. Hashim Amla, with 18, was the quickest ever. 4 Four players with higher scores chasing an ODI captaincy debut than Dhawan – Richie Richardson (106* v Pakistan, 1991), Sanath Jayasuriya (102 v Zimbabwe, 1998), Steven Smith ( 102 * v England, 2015) and Adam Gilchrist (98 v West Indies, 2001).
