Fastest in any IPL season From 2008 to 2023 2008 – Adam Gilchrist vs MI – 42 balls

2008 saw a total of 6 centuries hit that year, and the fastest of the lot came from Adam Gilchrist. Gilchrist scored a stunning century against MI off 42 balls. It was a tough chase as Deccan Chargers scored 155 in just 12 overs. Gilchrist’s 109 included 9 fours and 10 sixes, with a final score of 231.9.

The year 2009 saw only two centuries – one by Manish Pandey and the other by AB de Villiers. In both, AB de Villiers hit the fastest century off just 51 balls against CSK. de Villiers while playing for Delhi Daredevils scored 105 off just 54 balls with four fours, five sixes and six sixes at an average of 194.4. With the help of De Villiers knock, DD won the match by 9 runs.

2010 saw a total of 4 centuries hit in that year, and the fastest came in the form of a monster knock by Yusuf Pathan. Pathan almost made a massive run of 212 vs MI but unfortunately the runs ended the cause, Pathan scored an impressive 100 off 37 balls with 4 fours and 8 sixes, and a final strike rate of 270.3.

2012 saw a total of 6 centuries hit in that year, and the fastest came from Murali Vijay. 2012 was the year Murali Vijay was in prime form, and this special century came in Qualifier 2 vs Delhi Daredevils off 51 balls. In the end, Vijay scored 113 off 58 balls as CSK were all out for 222.

2015 saw a total of 4 centuries hit in that year, and the fastest came from the monster, Chris Gayle. Gayle hit his hundred in just 46 balls, and eventually finished with 117 off 57 balls with 7 fours and 12 sixes, and a strike rate of 205.3. RCB finished with 226 as they won the match by 138 runs.

2016 saw an incredible 7 centuries being hit during that period with Virat Kohli scoring 4 of those. However, the fastest lot came from AB de Villiers, who hit a century against Gujarat Lions. On a flat track, de Villiers scored a stunning century in 43 balls, as the final score read 129 off 52 balls. Ude Villiers hit 10 fours and 12 sixes at a strike rate of 248.1. RCB scored 248, and won the match by 144 runs.

This was Warner’s fastest century in 43 balls.

2018 saw a total of 5 centuries hit that year, with the fastest of the lot coming in the IPL 2018 final by Shane Watson. Arguably the best batsman under pressure in IPL history, Watson scored a century in 51 balls to help CSK chase down a massive total of 179 in 19 overs. Watson hit 11 fours and six sixes in the bloody leg over.

The year before the pandemic, 2019 saw the fastest from Jonny Bairstow. Bairstow hit a century in just 52 balls. Ironically, this is the slowest century among the fastest centuries every year. Bairstow hit 114 off 56 balls with 12 fours and 7 sixes to his name, with a strike rate of 203.6.

A pandemic year, 2020 saw a total of 5 centuries that year with the fastest by Mayank Agarwal. Agarwal as an opener has been very productive for Punjab Kings in 2020, and this particular knock has come in a lost cause. Mayank hit a stunning century off just 45 balls, the final score read 106 off 50 balls. Mayank hit 10 fours and 7 sixes in his knock.

Fastest Centuries In Ipl History

In 2021 he saw a total of 4 centuries that year. But the fastest came from southpaw Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal opened production for RCB before moving to RR. He made a hundred in just 51 balls as RCB chased down 178 with 10 wickets in hand. Padikkal hit 11 fours and 6 sixes in his knock at a rate of 193.3.

2022 saw the highest number of centuries in all years with a total of 8 hits this year. Of the eight, the fastest came from the uncapped Rajat Patidar in the eliminator vs Lucknow Super Giants. Rajat scored a stunning century in 49 balls, the last score was 112 off just 54 balls with four fours and seven sixes. RCB scored 207/4 as they won the match by 14 runs.

Last batch, Cameron Green hit the first, and fastest century of IPL 2023 in just 47 balls. MI needed a win to stay in Playoffs contention, and Cameron Green’s century did just that as he hit 3. Green scored a brilliant 100 off 47 balls with 8 fours and 8 sixes to his name, with a strike rate of 212.8.
